A Culture of Tuning

Fugate Instruments prides itself on our tuning methods and strategies.  Our staff has a combined keyboard percussion instrument tuning experience set of nearly 50 years.  Brett Fugate, the founder of Fugate Instruments, began his marimba tuning career with the now extinct company Decatur Instruments in 1994.  In 1998 Fugate became the chief tuner for Musser.  At Musser he spent many years studying all aspects of marimba, vibe, and xylophone fabrication.  Simultaneously, Fugate also spent some time tuning at Century Mallets.  After Fugate’s tenure at Musser he began Fugate Instruments as a natural progression of pushing the art and science of tuning.  At Fugate Instruments our mission statement is “…To continue to perfect the sculpture of sound.“
